Left-hand path

Through popularization and appropriation, the esoteric and transgressive character of the Tantric 'Vama Marg' (left-handed way or path; 'LHP') has, by turns, been removed from the context of a mystical rite of potential deconditioning and placed before objectionable and anti-social exposition by rebels and antinomians. The Indian original featured reference to relative position of the woman vis a vis the man (with her seated on the left in this randomized and potentially incestuous result within this sexual ritual).

As the tool of reactionaries and revolutionary religious, the concept of the LHP has taken on not only sexual (alongside the '(neo-)Tantric', but aggressive new forms, employed for explosive and offensive purposes in popular media.
