	Today is Beast Day 6-6-6

	SUN-MOON-NEPTUNE trine!! point-down very positive!
JUPITER opposed to VENUS, both square SATURN very negative!

SUN in Gemini trine MOON in Libra
MERCURY trine JUPITER and sextile VENUS

NO aspects to MARS *at all*! no censorship/morals?? note:

... in 1644 [Milton's] most famous pamphlet, Areopagetica
was published [more than 15 years prior to PL]. Those who
have read the Book of Acts in the King James translation
will remember that while in Athens, Paul is said to have
preached on Mars' Hill. In fact, he spoke before the
Areopagus, a council of citizens that got its name from
its meeting place, a temple of Ares (or Mars), and that
was responsible for censorship and the safeguarding of
public morals. Milton's pamphlet was written in protest
against the setting up by the Cromwell government of a
board of Censorship for all printed works. It is an
eloquent and forceful argument for freedom of the press.

of Mars (/Ares) housing a council of
	      citizens (Areopagus) responsible for
	      censorship and the safeguarding of
public morals, the former against which
Milton publically argued prior to the
	      writing of his classic poems.

| Discretions blemish with attempted resolution
| An obsession with linear time and space.

humans have an obsession with idealizing sequences
of events, explaining important aspects of the cosmos
in narrative terms. restraint compels us to limit
to discreetness what might otherwise become too
revealing an explanation, and so we fantasize.

| Imagining a finitude excluded from erstwhile monolatry,

this is a preface putting into absolute doubt any idea
of this text's literal accuracy (being but imaginary).

| The origins of the Dark Lord and the Hellish Contingent
| Are dressed in fabrics both dependent and astral,
| While, being beyond the bounds of human conception,
| They demonstrate their terran multiplicity
| Through poly- and therio-morphism.

general explanatory reiteration:
demons appear beastly and ambiguous as a species.
their strong relation to nature is found in symbolism.
the figure of the Great Adversary-Dominator and his
armies and servants (as within classics like Milton),
is underwritten by the local archon presumed All-Maker,
whose association with the local star and other stellae
goes back millenia (as via initiatory cults).

other specifics:
'The Dark Lord'?? influence from Tolkien, surely.

'Hellish Contingent' seems bivalent, strictly infernal??
there are implications of this for philosophic application
(what is 'contingent' and which of these might be hellish).

| Aye, Gaia Herself, dissected and distended
| Into forms comprehensible to Anthropos
| Showers forth a parade of Cthonos and Telluria.
| _____________________________________________________

	Gaia:
	n.
The goddess of the earth, who bore and married
Uranus and became the mother of the Titans and
	the Cyclopes.

	---

	Anthropos -- 'Man' in a glorified sense; species;
one migh compare it with the Primordial Man,
the Cosmic Man, or the First Man; here it
suffices as 'humans en masse', 'mankind'.

	---

Cthonos and Telluria are the terran multiplicity
mentioned in the previous paragraph. they are a
	metaphor instructing distinction and composition:

	cthonic/chthonic
adj : of the underworld; "nether regions"
       [syn: chthonian, lower, nether]

	tellurian
	adj.
Of, relating to, or inhabiting the earth.
	n.
	1.	An inhabitant of the earth; a terrestrial.
	2.	Variant of tellurion.

	tellurion also teláluáriáan (-n)
	n.
An apparatus that shows how the movement of the
earth on its axis and around the sun causes day
	and night and the seasons.

| _Lost in Paradise: Milton-hatred_,

hatred of Milton on account of his dualism
unbalanced, a dominating display of imperialism,
and for his subjugation of the Infernal Divinity.
his original, of course, was 'Paradise Lost'.

'New Brood' appears a kind of superhero aggregate.

'Infernal Horde' is akin to 'Hellish Contingent' but without
so philosophic an association.

more than one source -- particularly the "Magical Treatise
of Solomon"; Harleian MS. 5596 -- has Beelzeboul down as
'demon of Saturday', which is a massive hit in relation to
Saturn's father: sequential father-killing.
[http://www.esotericarchives.com/solomon/mts.htm (accessed 8/25/06)]

this might mean that the children of these gods are the
demons of their fathers, titanic adversaries. and here's a
direct tie-in with Gaea also:
Cronus: after emasculating his father Uranus and setting himself up as lord of the earth, Cronus (Roman Saturn), having been warned his son would kill him, devoured his children until his wife Rhea substituted a stone for Zeus, who grew up to kill his father and become lord of the universe. -- http://www.williamgaddis.org/recognitions/I6anno1.shtml (accessed 8/25/06)

Uranus or Ouranos Son of Gaea, he became her lover and her husband. Because, fearing the great powers of his children, he was hiding them in the depths of Gaea; she got angry and asks one of her sons, Cronus to help her delivered his brothers and sisters. Cronus hide during the night and cut of his father' genitals and throw them. From the blood running from the wound on the earth (Gaea) were born the Erinyes (the Furies, avengers of wrong) and the Giants (monstrous giants who were buried underneath volcanoes, crating earth's explosion and earthquakes). It is also said, in some versions of the mythology, that Cronus throws Uranus' organs into the sea and from the foam they created was born the goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite. -- http://www.greeka.com/greece-mythology-2.htm (accessed 8/25/06)
amongst the Greeks the best representative for the Underworld lord is Hades: "the god of the underworld in ancient mythology; brother of Zeus and husband of Persephone"

by several names: "Pluto, Hades, Aides, Aidoneus "

connections with Jewish and Christian scripture seem to refer to Sheol or Gehenna, the latter being punitive. in the Apocalypse of John, written prior to he close of the first century c.e. John sees the Son of Man, who tells him "Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades." (1:17b-18) so it is obvious that at least some Christians believe and hope for their Jesus to have command over the Underworld (and thus likely the ability to effect the Resurrection at what they believe will be the Day of Judgement) [http://www.novumtestamentum.com/background/apocalyptic-underworld.php (accessed 8/25/06)] Wiki explains:
'Hades' is employed by Christians as a residing place for souls that have fallen from grace. -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hades
were this association to be followed out, Jesus would be crossing the river Styx. as a god, like his father, he'd probably do so alive, having died in the flesh and somehow thereafter transmuted (or gods can't die and his trick was to appear to have done so). Hades is said to have had a Helm of Invisibility given to him by the Cyclopes, children of Uranus. and yet there is a large difference between Greek and Satanist scripture: the knowledge described of Satan and Hades. the former knows pretty much everything that's going on phenomenologically, whereas Hades ignores the surface world and human beings, at least. here's what might pass for one 'gate':
The main entrance to Tartarus was said to lie between a group of black poplar trees that lined the side of the River Oceanus. It was here the newly departed were met by Charon the ferryman. For the price of an obol, Charon would carry the spirits across the River Styx in his ship of the dead. The unlucky ghosts who were sent to their end without a penny were left stranded on the river bank where they would remain forever. Their only recourse would be to sneak away from their guide Hermes and make their way down a back entrance. -- http://www.geocities.com/medea19777/hades.html (accessed 8/25/06)
The realm of Tartarus was located deep beneath the surface of the earth. The roots of both the earth and sea grew above it, and it was said an anvil would have to fall nine days before ever reaching it's shores. It was here, behind a prison of bronze fencing and iron gates that one would find the souls of those sentenced to eternal punishment. Deep within the blackness of Tartarus could be found the Titans, who were cast there after fighting a ten year war with the the Olympian gods. All residing here were under the guard of the Hundred Handed; three giants with fifty heads and one hundred arms who were the half brothers of Zeus. Along with their brothers the Cyclopes, the Hundred Handed found favor with Zeus by coming to his aid during the war with the Titans and were rewarded justly by being set free from this vast prison. -- http://www.geocities.com/medea19777/hades.html (accessed 8/25/06)
aside from the transition to the Underworld which may hold a Gate, there are descriptions of inhabitants (the dead):
The dead appear as mere shadows and if touched appear to be thin air. They only regain the power of thought and recognition after drinking sacrificial blood. Those that died and were unburied had to wait for 100 years near the gates until Charon would pass them any further. There is no pain in the underworld, but neither is there any joy. Silence reins there as the dead only whisper. Hades and Persephone live in a palace, and with them the Erinnyes, Moirae, Thanatos and Hypnos. There also the lands of Tartarus (punishment) and Elysium (rewards) to which the dead may pass. They may also drink of the waters of Lethe which brings forgetfulness.
there is no indication that Satan has a palace in this scripture, though he has a throne. therefore the identification between Hades and Satan is tenuous at best.
The underworld existed so that the dead would have an afterlife. The quality of this afterlife varied. In general it seemed gloomy and depressing in the main areas, however as there was no joy or pain (both springing from life) the dead didn't seem to mind. Later a set of judges was added, who dispatched the dead to specialised areas (and which heavily influenced Christian conceptions of Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory)."
interestingly at variance from the One Way trip of many Jews, most Christians and Muslims:
Eventually after a certain time, regardless of where they ended up, souls would drink from the Lethe, forget their previous existance and reborn to the land of the living. This was a form of reincarnation, with the dead returning to life because death was so boring. -- http://hunter.apana.org.au/~gallae/pantheon/myth/hades.htm (accessed 8/25/06)
alternate to the notion that the deepest region of the Underworld was the domain of Satan, we might examine the possibility that it is Tartarus. its origins are symbolically valuable:
According to classical myths, Tartarus was an offspring of Chaos, and born at the same time as Gaea (Earth) and Eros (Love). Tartarus was nothing more than a personification of the region, yet it had mated with Gaea, producing monstrous offsprings, including Typhon amd Echidna. -- http://www.timelessmyths.com/classical/hades.html (accessed 8/25/06)
and yet the Greek is not the only possible Deathgate referent:
...death may be considered as a gate through which the consciousness departs from one life and begins the journey to a new life. Hence, the title of this article uses the term the Gate of Death. Occasionally people revive after having lost all vital signs and been officially pronounced dead. Hence, death is not always a one-way passage but sometimes a revolving door. The part of the body where warmth lingers till the rest of the body has become cold is also called the Gate of Death in the sense that the consciousness finally leaves the body through this spot, and its relative position on the body is believed to indicate which realm the consciousness is migrating to. In general, the higher spots indicate better realms and the lower ones indicate worse realms. The popular Chinese belief describes one's death as follows: When the time of death comes, ox-headed and horse-headed delegates of Yen Lo, the chief justice of the ten judges in Hell, will lead one's soul across the Nai He (desperate) Bridge, which extends over the boundary of life and death, to hell. There one will be judged according to one's karma and sentenced to rebirth in one of the six realms. Before one's rebirth one will be given a Meng Po soup to drink and thereby one's memory of one's past life is obliterated. -- http://www.yogichen.org/efiles/mbk16.html (accessed 8/26/06)
| Of late, the god of this world had lamented | A distinct lack of excitement, | Less challenges arising | With the encrustation and cooling, | The lovely luminal oscillation and revolution | About a blossoming eruption of heat and light | Into nothingness. GOD OF THIS WORLD | Attentively observing an abundant animation, | Even the development of Anthropos | Had become a commonplace, | Grindingly-slow parasite, | Strewn with a latent capacity | For technik and reflection. An assembly of church officials and theologians convened for regulating matters of doctrine and discipline. -- 'Where he used his magic to charm and dominate' PART THREE: THE VISITATION OF THE INFERNAL DEITY | "This I must *see*!" exclaimed Mastema. | So an entourage formed and the great distances | Between the Underworld | (Which all know to be as far from the heavenly host as possible) | And the Sky Council (sod) were traversed. MASTEMA UNDERWORLD n. 2. A region, realm, or dwelling place conceived to be below the surface of the earth. 5. Archaic. The world beneath the heavens; the earth. infernal region n. 1. Him have anointed, whom ye now behold
At my right hand. Your head I him appoint,
And by myself have sworn to him shall bow
All knees in Heaven, and shall confess him Lord. Under his great viceregent reign abide, United as one individual soul, For ever happy. Him who disobeys Me disobeys, [note2] breaks union, and, that day, Cast out from God and blessed vision, falls Into utter darkness, deep engulfed, his place Ordained without redemption, without end.' ----------------------------------------------------- note1: "In medieval and Renaissance angelology, the ranks of angels (from top to bottom) were: Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominations, Powers, Angels, Archangels. Satan is referred to as an archangel in this passage, but he is a Seraphim, the highest rank of angel, as is Abdiel, the one lone angel in Satan's ranks that does not defect with the rebel angels." note2: "That is, 'Who disobeys Him, disobeys Me.'" ----------------------------------------------------- -- Milton, "Paradise Lost", Book V. http://www.wsu.edu:8001/~dee/ENLIGHT/PL5.HTM captured 6/6/6. -----------------------------------------------------
note significant changes: in LiP the child already exists; in PL the child is just begot; in LiP the anointing is in hall; in PL the anointing is on a hill; in both he has been anointed; aánoint ÊÊ (ÊPÊ)ÊÊPronunciation KeyÊÊ(-noint) tr.v. aánointáed, aánointáing, aánoints 1. To apply oil, ointment, or a similar substance to. 2. To put oil on during a religious ceremony as a sign of sanctification or consecration. 3. To choose by or as if by divine intervention. This day have I begot whom I declare, My only Son....
This is a quotation from Psalm 2:7, which in some manuscripts is quoted in connection with the Baptism of Christ. If we take "beget" as "bring into existence," this would mean that the Son is created after the angels, which is nonsense, since Milton makes it explicit that it is only through the Son that the angels and all other things are created (John 1:3). However, the Hebrew verb "yalad", translated "beget", also has the meaning of "to publicly acknowledge as one's heir." ----------------------------------------------------- from James Kiefer's "Christian Biographies" site -- http://elvis.rowan.edu/~kilroy/jek/11/08.html as retrieved on May 15, 2006 00:58:13 GMT; recorded on 6-6-6 by boboroshi. -----------------------------------------------------
from Undernet, #scripture's pete- bot: Psalms 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. (KJV) | As the Council commenced the kowtow, | It became apparent that there was a faction | Composed of timbre and power | Whose likeness measured the equal of, | Or indeed surpassed, the one called "Most High". -- kowátow intr.v. 1. To kneel and touch the forehead to the ground in expression of deep respect, worship, or submission, as formerly done in China. 2. To show servile deference. n. 1. The act of kneeling and touching the forehead to the ground. 2. An obsequious act. [From Chinese (Mandarin) k˜u t—u, a kowtow : k˜u, to knock + t—u, head.] MOST HIGH | The blustery Michael, seized by a fit of rage, | Demanded acquiescence and explanation. | | Then didst the Great Accuser, | Favoring the impetuous stellae with kindly attentions, | Smile and perforce deliver | A speech most eloquent and disturbing: | | "What manner of godliness this? | To demand submission without condition, | To subordinate power to an half-pint upstart, | To dictate on high a slavery complete, | Without knowing and testing the authority thereof? | Wherefore is the sense in you celestial invaders, | That you submit your necks | And choose to bend the supple knee?"
"Not merely titular, since by decree Another now hath to himself engrossed All power, and us eclipsed under the name Of King Anointed; for whom all this haste Of midnight march, and hurried meeting here, This only to consult, how we may best, With what may be devised of honours new, Receive him coming to receive from us Knee-tribute yet unpaid, prostration vile! Too much to one! but double how endured -- To one and to his image now proclaimed? But what if better counsels might erect Our minds, and teach us to cast off this yoke! Will ye submit your necks, and choose to bend The supple knee? Ye will not, if I trust To know ye right, or if ye know yourselves Natives and Sons of Heaven possessed before By none, and, if not equal all yet free, Equally free; for orders and degrees Are not with liberty, but well consist. Who can in reason, then, or right, assume Monarchy over such as live by right His equals -- if in power and splendour less, In freedom equal? or can introduce Law and edict on us, who without law Err not? much less for this to be our Lord, And look for adoration to the abuse Of those imperial titles which assert Our being ordained to govern, not to serve!' -- Milton, "Paradise Lost", Book V. http://www.wsu.edu:8001/~dee/ENLIGHT/PL5.HTM
| At this of course there was a great commotion, | The spell of the Tetragrammaton | Partially unwoven, unravelled. | The luminous herd now divided, | Cleaving High and Low, and that Between. -- 'High and Low, and that Between.' reference to the Miltonian and other claim that the rebellion persuaded 1/3 of the celestial host to join them. to wit:
Satan, originally called Lucifer ("light-bearer") was one of the greatest of the angelic beings who serve God in Heaven. However, every created being with intellect and will has a choice whether to put God first or to put himself first, and Satan chose to put himself first. He was not content to be a subordinate. He proposed to be equal to the Most High. (See Isaiah 14:12-15, a passage which probably refers to the King of Babylon (see verse 3), but which has often been applied to Satan.) He rebelled against God, and persuaded one third of the angels to join him. (The number is based on Revelation 12:4, where a dragon is said to draw one third of the stars out of heaven. If we take the dragon to be Satan, and the stars to be angels, we get the result. However, there are numerous references on the book of Revelation to the destruction of one third of something or other, and it is arguable that this is a conventional poetic expression rather than a statistic.) In Milton's account (I am not sure whether this particular idea is Milton's own invention), the event that rouses Satan to rebellion is God's proclamation of His only Son as the ruler of all created things, to whom all angels and the whole universe must pay homage. God says in this connection: ----------------------------------------------------- from James Kiefer's "Christian Biographies" site -- http://elvis.rowan.edu/~kilroy/jek/11/08.html as retrieved on May 15, 2006 00:58:13 GMT; recorded on 6-6-6 by boboroshi. -----------------------------------------------------
| A mad scramble indicated preparations for battle, | Michael beating his breast brutishly, | With shining, ferocious eyes. | | Yet the Most High, his face purplish with outrage, | Quieted them somewhat | With a demonstration of temperance. | | "You are mine to command!" he shouted, | Apparently mistaking Belial for his lackey. | | "Thou wilt obey the Throne Supreme, | Lest Our Anger be unleashed, | Your insubordination squelched!" | | With horror and envy at the | Potent resistance to his domination, | The Chieftain stood aghast | As this renegade mal'ak, | Semyaza, again addressed the Council: | | "Know you not your true heritage? | Be ye instructed therefore. | We were self-begot, self-raised, | Our puissance is our own, | Our own right hand | Shall teach us of the best deeds. | By proof try who is our equal!" |
"'That we were formed, then, say'st thou? and the work Of secondary hands, by task transferred From Father to his Son? Strange point and new! Doctrine which we would know whence learned! Who saw When this creation was? Rememberst thou Thy making, while the Maker gave thee being? We know no time when we were not as now; Know none before us, self-begot, self-raised By our own quickening power when fatal course Had circled his full orb, the birth mature Of this our native Heaven, Ethereal Sons. [note2] Our puissance 33 is our own; our own right hand Shall teach us highest deeds, by proof to try Who is our equal. Then thou shalt behold Whether by supplication we intend Address, and to begirt the Almighty Throne Beseeching or besieging. "He said- and, as the sound of waters deep Hoarse murmur echoed to his words applause Through the infinite host. Nor less for that The flaming Seraph, fearless, though alone, Encompassed round with foes, thus answered bold. -- Milton, "Paradise Lost", Book V. http://www.wsu.edu:8001/~dee/ENLIGHT/PL5.HTM
[08/26/06 Commentary, line-by-line, continues] | At this the warfare ensued, | Ho Satanas joining the rebels | Who were intent upon a complete victory. | | The venture deemed a complete success, | Old Nick took leave, | Providing directions and guides to | Those who subsequently sought refuge. OLD NICK | The heavenly host soon discovered the ruse, | Yet that day nearly half the celestial ranks | Abandoned the tyrannical Chieftain god | In favor of the Subterranean rebels. | Still the precious Gate of Death | Held aloof the astral adversaries, | Their aperturic abyss an ever-lengthening entry | For any not invited to the Lower World | Or winning through in transformative ordeal. Gate of Death | The Father god, stupendously upstaged | And jealous at the power of the Evil One, | Brooded with his archon-angelos, | Each suggesting grandiose schemes | Of deception or counter-assault. | | Until the tyrant's son, | Incited by the Father to salvage his reputation, | Volunteered to attempt a breach of the Gate | With a method heretofore untried and dangerous. | | Mustering his courage and securing the aid | Of his Father's most charming archon, | He selected a human woman on Earth | And, using his godly power, | Raped her, seeding himself inside her womb. | | The archon's charm effecting her willing cooperation, | Mary was disposed to the care of the god. | | A "miraculous" pregnancy, | The birth was presaged by stellar phenomena | And accompanied by wondrous signs | Made possible by the son's accomplices. | | To news of all this, Mephisto expressed delight. | "Let us play along, this travesty undoes the tyrant!" | | With the Devil making offerings to Yeheshua | By which neither the Gate be breached | Nor the impending tragedy avoided, | The common tale (much exaggerated!) unfolded. | | The people, disturbed by the troublesome godson, | Made an example and seized the actuality and symbol | Of the dying god as salvation. | | Yeheshua being what he was, proceeded through the Gate, | Both unaware of the immense joke played at his expense | And content to have won his way into the Underworld. | | Here he was met by several of his former associates, | Welcomed as a hero for turning humans toward atheism, | And finally converted from the harsh ways of his Father | To something more pastoral, | Simultaneously protecting the Earth | And setting the stage for the maturation of Anthropos. | | The Hordes of Hell rejoiced, | The Father of Lies congratulated him, | And the petty tyrant departed for other worlds. | | ------------------------------------------------------------------- | NOTE: I have never read through Milton, being content to admire the | umbra of Dore' and be repulsed by reflections of the travesty | done by the poet. | ___________________________________________________________________ | (c) nocTifer@satanservice.org 1997, 2001-2666
