   What is a Grotto and who is a Grotto Master?
   
   Grottos were originally developed in the early 70's as extensions for
   the Church of Satan. They were world-wide outposts for Satanists to
   organize themselves for activity and networking. Today, they are very
   much the same with a more developed set of goals.
   
   A Grotto Master is the leader of this small and elite
   organization. Incidentally, he is responsible for all of the actions
   which he or his grotto as a whole conducts, and not the Church of
   Satan. The Grotto Master represents Satanism, but not the Church of
   Satan, his affiliation is for guidance and reporting only.
   
   Grottos are regional only.  If you are not in Connecticut, you should
   not write to our Grotto Master for information, since he is not
   responsible for resourcing other locations. Diversity and independent
   thought is essential to each grotto, and no two are exactly alike,
   though they center around the same philosophy and are loyal to the
   writings of Dr. Anton LaVey.

   FAQ
   
   Essentially, what you see on this internet site is a representation of
   what this Grotto is interested in, and what its goals are.  We have
   official membership information available through the postal mail
   only.  This page is only a sketch of our complete information.
   
   A brief FAQ, answered by myself, the Grotto Master, is here:
   
   1) Do you sacrifice animals or kill people?  Of course we don't kill
   animals.  What did they do to us?  However, recognizing contemporary
   law that punishes for murder, we feel that we can ritualize our hatred
   for other persons if they have harmed us intentionally without a just
   reason.  In this way, some of our foes DO end up on the other side,
   yes, but not illegally. (Snicker).
   
   2) What is Satan?   The only physical manifestation of Satan is we
   ourselves. Satanists commonly relate to Satan as the dark aspect of
   nature, that creates the ruling forces of the universe. In that way,
   Satan does exist, but being impersonal, there is absolutely no reason
   to "worship" him as many think we do. Instead, we worship ourselves
   and our own egos, and we reap our own rewards.
   
   3) How do you get involved in Satanism? You write to the Church of
   Satan and ask them for the information you are most interested in.  If
   you show a sincere enough interest you will be referred to a grotto
   only if you choose to be.
   
   4) Don't you feel bad for all of those people who are poor and
   starving? No.  Quite honestly, I don't feel a thing for them.  They
   and the people who bred them are responsible for their own lives, and
   it is not the healthy people of the world's obligation to interfere.
   It is only they're guilt-ridden mandate.  People who are scared of
   being labeled "bad people" are the ones who feel sympathy for the weak
   and dying whom they don't even know.  Satanists have a genetic
   aversion to poverty and disease.  It's that kind of filth that we try
   to get as far from as possible, and it should be eliminated; not
   encouraged by donation and charity.
   
   5) Do you believe that you have a soul? I believe in bio-electrical
   energy.  Some may think it's the same thing.  I think that energy is a
   vital force that keeps a person on a certain level of "vibration"
   throughout life.  When you die, it probably goes into the atmosphere
   and disappears, like evaporating water.  I don't believe in heaven or
   hell, and I don't need to.  Hell sounds like a swell place, but  I'm
   only concerned with what happens to me here and now.
   
   6) How do I summon Satan? I'll offer one example: You take a good look
   at yourself in the mirror, and you identify with what you think Satan
   is.  If you see it in your reflection, then you can be grateful for
   that every day.  Think of that aspect of yourself that you identified
   with, and then ask for your wishes to be granted in Satan's name. A
   lot of Satanists may refer to Satan as a source of strength or
   pride. You'll see what happens, but it takes time to develop a real
   potent invocation for Satan. Most successful magicians spend years
   experimenting before the right formula is revealed to them.  The
   Satanic Bible has a complete invocation of Satan outlined for you.
   Satanic magic is the most straight-forward approach to magic that
   there is.  You don't have to go through long, elaborate procedures.
   Our magic consists of three things: goal, method, and application. The
   simplest procedures are often the most effective.
